If you choose to get your tax refund from the CRA as opposed to H&R Block, you can expect a much longer waiting period. The CRA processes two main types of tax returns.

Electronic returns: 2 weeks

Paper returns: 8 weeks

The CRA only abides by these timelines if your taxes were filed on or before the due date.

  • Taxes are submitted after the due date
  • Your return is selected for a more detailed review
  • You live outside Canada and file a non-resident personal income tax return
