Child Tax Benefit (CCTB)

The Canada child tax benefit is a tax-free monthly payment made to eligible families to help them with the cost of raising children. Payments are made to families with children under the age of 18 and include the Basic benefit, the National Child Benefit Supplement and the Child Disability Benefit Supplement. The amount you'll receive is based on your family income, the province you live in, the number of children you have and your child's eligibility. You can apply for this benefit after the birth of your child, when your child starts to live with you or when you become a resident of Canada. The CRA may require supporting documents including a signed statement from a nursery or school authority confirming the child's home address, a statement from a lawyer or other person of authority, a registration form for an activity or club the child was enrolled in or a court order.
