What is a Schedule 6 Working Income Tax Benefit form?
The schedule 6 is used to calculate whether or not you qualify for the Working Income Tax Benefit and how much you'll receive. The Working Income Tax Benefit is a refundable tax credit that is intended to provide tax relief if you're a low income individual or family with employment or business income.
You're eligible if you lived in Canada all year and on December 31, you were either 19 years of age or older or living with a spouse/common-law partner or a parent living with their child. You're not eligible if you're a tax exempt employee of foreign government, in prison or were a full time student for more than 13 weeks unless you had an eligible dependant.
Disabled taxpayers with working income get an additional WITB supplement. If both you and your spouse or common-law partner are disabled, then each of you complete a schedule 6 to calculate the disability supplement.
