The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager of Digital Content, the selected candidate will work with our English-speaking writers and other translators to ensure that the content of the documents provided to them are translated according to the highest standards of readability and language quality.
The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues from across Canada who specialize in various areas of expertise, including developers, Product Managers, Tax Analysts, user experience writers, and other translators.
Key areas of Responsibility:
- Translate from English into French:
- Forms and menus used in the user interface of our software.
- Help articles.
- Release and technical documentation.
- Tax or legal documents.
- Work with other writers, editors, translators, and Tax Analysts, to meet established editorial standards and achieve the objectives of our Digital Content Team.
- Share best practices about French translation and writing, including readability and accessibility considerations.
- Review documents translated into French by other translators to ensure accuracy and consistency across the H&R Brand in voice and tone.
- Stay up to date on translation trends in the content industry, ensuring our team is aware of and using best-practice tools and approaches.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Key Qualifications:
- University degree in translation, creative writing, French language, literature, marketing, advertising, or any combination of studies and professional writing experience deemed equivalent.
- Complete command of French.
- The ability to communicate effectively in English; both verbally and in writing.
- Experience taking technical concepts and making them easy to understand in layman’s terms.
- Experience writing French content for digital products.
- Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently while maintaining a high quality of work.
- Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where the environment is constantly changing.
