Keeping Your Information Confidential and Secure
At H&R Block, nothing is more important to us than maintaining your trust. We use high-level encryption technology and work with tax authorities to protect all of your information. To learn more about our security measures, read our complete Privacy Statement.
H&R Block does not have access to the information that you enter into the Online Tax Program. Only your user ID and case-sensitive password can access your return.
Password Protected
When you first register with H&R Block's Online Tax Program, you will create a 'password hint' as well as a password. The password hint should be something that will help you to remember the password.
If you can't remember your password when you log in, just click "Forgot Your Password" on the sign-in screen. This will show a hint or clue to your password that might trigger your memory. If you still can't remember your password after you receive the hint, you'll have to start a new return.
If you forget your username, click "Forgot Your Username" to have it emailed to you. We recommend that you print the user ID and password in your Getting Started session.

Saving Your Data
The Online Tax Program will ensure that all of your data is secure and is saved regularly. Here are the details:
- Each time you enter data into the interview and then click to the next screen, your data will be saved by H&R Block's secure servers.
- If you don't send any data to the H&R Block computers for 15 minutes, we will assume you've walked away from your computer and will log you out so that an unauthorized person cannot access your information.
- If you log out or get disconnected, you can log back in and resume work at the point you left off, because your work is saved as you go.
- Your tax data is stored securely on our servers indefinitely and can be retrieved by using your username and password.
- You may also print or save a PDF copy of your tax return for your files.
Do I need to NETFILE my return and my spouse’s separately?
Yes. NETFILE your return using your own CRA access code, and then NETFILE your spouse's using his or her unique access code. Each of you will receive a separate confirmation number from the CRA.
What do I do with my slips?
When you file your tax return through NETFILE, you do not have to submit your receipts, information slips or other supporting papers. However, it is your responsibility to keep this material safe and available in case the CRA or MRQ requests it at a later date.
What if I discover a mistake after I've filed?
H&R Block's guarantee is simple. If the Online Tax Program makes a calculation error in the preparation of your return, we will pay for the penalties and interest assessed by the CRA or MRQ as a result of the error. H&R Block will not pay your additional taxes incurred as a result of the error.
Please note that your use of the Online Tax program is governed by H&R Block's Online Tax End User License Agreement, which is presented to you at the time you register for the service.
