No, there is no charge for activating your debit card.
What debit card usage fees are there?
Debit payment - $1.99 for each debit purchase
Interac ATM fee - $1.99 for each withdrawal
Trace fee - $0.50 for transaction investigations
Telephone account inquiry fee - $1.00 for each inquiry
Inactivity fee - $8.95 for 90 consecutive days of non use and monthly charges thereafter.
Live agent - $3.00
Card re-issue fee - $1.99
Decline fee - $0.50
How do I know my debit card balance?
You have two options:
- Call toll free (866) 231-0373
- Internet - log on to www.directcash.net
- Available 24/7 at no charge
- Requires the 16 digit card number, SIN, and password (mother's maiden name)
How do I use the last few dollars on my card?
Since ATM's only dispense in $20 denominations, you must use a debit purchase transaction to zero your balance.
- take your remaining balance - less debit purchase fee of $1.99 = amount available to use towards the purchase
- then pay the balance owing using cash or credit.
Can I transfer funds from my debit card to my personal bank account?
Yes, by withdrawing funds from any Interac ATM and then depositing those funds into your personal bank account. A direct transfer from the debit card to your personal bank account cannot be made.
Is there a withdrawal limit?
Yes, the debit card itself has a $5,000 daily withdrawal limit for security reasons. Also, each Interac ATM will have its own daily withdrawal limit, however, multiple merchant ATM's can be used the same day to withdraw larger amounts.
Is there an expiration date on my card?
No, your debit card has no expiry date. You can keep it in your wallet or purse for emergency use, a "rainy day", or for spending at your leisure.
What if my card is lost or stolen?
Call toll free 1-800-HRBLOCK and report the incident. Then follow our Support Centre's instructions for a replacement card.
What if my PIN is not working?
Call toll free 1-800-HRBLOCK and report your card problem without disclosing your PIN. Inoperative PINs can have their PIN counter reset, but forgotten PINs will require re-issuance of a new card.
