Farming Income
Effective for the 2007 program year, the Canadian Agricultural Income Stabilization (CAIS) program has been replaced by the following two programs:
- AgriInvest, which provides coverage for margin losses of 15% or less; and
- AgriStability which provides coverage for larger income declines.
As with CAIS, these programs are delivered federally except in Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and Prince Edward Island where they are delivered by the respective provincial governments.
The federal and provincial governments have also announced a new disaster assistance program called AgriRecovery, which will provide assistance for producers hit by smaller natural disasters, and are working to enhance the existing production insurance plans under AgriInsurance.
