  • Location: Field Support Organization -- Calgary

H&R Block Canada is a leader in the tax preparation industry.  We are looking for a Technical Support Specialist (seasonal) to handle technical customer inquiries and facilitate problem resolution in a courteous and professional manner while providing the highest level of customer service.  The responsibilities of a Technical Support Specialist include:

  • Providing responsive and professional technical customer support via telephone and/or other electronic mediums within a call centre environment.  Escalating calls to subject matter experts through various methods.
  • Assisting in the testing and documenting of various proprietary desktop and web applications as well as the day-to-day education of associates in supported applications and business processes.
  • Providing non-technical customer support during peak times.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum two years experience in help desk support including the setup and troubleshooting of PC hardware, browser settings, office networks, VPN/telecom connectivity, and software.  
  • Experience with remote support of both client/server and web based applications.  Experience with LAN / TCPIP / DHCP.
  • Working knowledge of Windows 2000 and 2003, XP, and Microsoft network configurations.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to focus and work with frequent interruptions in a fast-paced, high call volume environment.
  • Must be able to communicate fluently in English.  French would be an asset.
  • Ability to sit at a computer and use a telephone headset for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work shifts (days, evenings), weekends and holidays during tax season.
