How does the bank account work?
The bank account allows you to file your tax return and defer payment of the tax preparation fee. Plus the bank account comes with a debit card and instant access to your account.
You can identify this account to be used for direct deposit with your employer and/or other financial institutions. The CRA will be instructed to use this account for direct deposit.
The tax preparation fee is deducted from your account after January 2012.
What do I need to apply?
- Two pieces of acceptable ID, one of which is government-issued
(e.g. SIN card, driver's license, etc.) - Proof of eligible future income
- Your tax return completed by H&R Block
Can I use my bank account for anything else?
Yes. You can use your bank account (which is held at DirectCash Bank) for other banking needs. See website for a full list of banking services at hrblock.ca/account.
What are the fees for the bank account?
Typical debit card and account fees apply. Details of the fees can be found in your agreement with DirectCash Bank.
How do I know my account balance?
You have two options:
- Internet - log on to hrblock.ca/account to check for free.
[Requires the 16 digit card number, the last four digits of your SIN for the secret code, and password (mother's maiden name)] - Call 1-877-275-1374, charges will apply.
Is there an expiration date on my account?
Your account has no expiry date. Please note, if there are no transactions on your account for 12 months, your account will become deactivated.
What if my card is lost or stolen?
Call toll free 1-800-HRBLOCK (472-5625) and report the incident. Then follow our Support Centre's instructions for a replacement card.
What if my PIN is not working?
- Call toll free 1-877-275-1374 and report your card problem (without disclosing your PIN). Inoperative PINS can have their PIN counter reset.
- Forgotten PINs will require re-issuance of a new card. Please visit your local H&R Block office and a new card will be issued.
